Nagpur is the home of the GI-tagged Nagpur mandarin, with dense orange belts across Katol, Narkhed, Kalmeshwar and Saoner talukas, while Umred and the eastern talukas grow cotton, soyabean and paddy. Spraying mature orange canopies with knapsacks is slow and wasteful; drones cover orchards from above with uniform droplet penetration. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the drone spraying price per acre for orange orchards in Nagpur?
Orange orchard spraying in the Katol–Narkhed–Kalmeshwar belt typically costs ₹500–₹600 per acre, slightly above field-crop rates because tall canopies need higher spray volumes and slower passes. The CropWings pilot confirms the final quote after checking tree height and spacing in the app booking.
Can a drone spray tall Nagpur mandarin trees properly?
Yes. Agricultural drones fly 1.5–2 metres above the canopy and the downwash from the rotors pushes droplets into the upper and middle canopy, where citrus psylla and mite pressure is highest. For orchards older than 15 years with very dense canopies, pilots adjust flight speed and nozzle output for better penetration.
How early should I book drone spraying for kharif cotton and soyabean in Umred?
Book 2–3 days ahead during peak kharif demand (July–September), when pest alerts trigger a rush across Vidarbha. CropWings has active pilots in Nagpur district, so off-peak bookings are often serviced next day. A 10-acre cotton block is typically finished in about an hour, so same-day multi-farm rounds are common.
